STL Twin Town Challenge 2018 team name revealed

The name of the STL team taking part in this year’s Twin Town Challenge has been revealed! The theme of Town Town Challenge 2018 is the movies and the STL team are called ‘Slyther in Hufflemuffs’, based on Harry Potter.

The other big announcement is that the team will be driving the trusty STL Rover for its 3rd Twin Town event. The Rover was purchased back in 2014 for £200 and has since done Twin Town 2014 and 2016 as well as two Gamma Ball Rally’s, so has been driven hundreds of miles for charity.

The 2018 STL Twin Town Challenge team is an all-female crew from the finance department. Sarah, Heather, Beki and Clare will be driving the Rover from Witney to its twin town of Le Touquet along with 99 other cars costing less than £500. Dressed in their best Harry Potter outfits the STL girls will undertake a number of fun car based challenges over the late May bank holiday weekend. The Twin Town Challenge raises money for SpecialEffect and in 2016, the STL team won the cup for top fundraiser.

The Twin Town Challenge is the brainchild of STL’s managing director Brendon Cross who had the idea of taking 50 cars costing less than £500 to Le Touquet for the weekend. Since then the Twin Town Challenge has raised over £500,000 for SpecialEffect.

The 2018 event is taking place from 25-28 May when 100 cars will leave Blenheim Palace heading for France. The highlight of the weekend is a street party with live bands in Le Touquet and a day of challenges at Abbeville circuit. All the costs of the event are covered by sponsorship and so every penny donated by the teams goes straight to the charity.
