Students design new conference room
Students from Abingdon and Witney College recently spent a week at STL on work experience to redesign our conference and meeting rooms. Working in two teams, the 12 students assessed our needs for the two rooms, considered the physical space, natural lighting and the circulation flow before looking at the colour scheme, layout, furniture and wall décor. Of course, one of their other challenges was to understand our corporate branding and colours and to demonstrate how these could be incorporated into their designs.
STL has plans to use the conference room for more customer events and wanted to remove the large boardroom table that currently central to the room and have a more flexible space for theatre style seating, presentations and receptions. The meeting room is a smaller room that STL wants to use as a training facility for customers. With our emphasis firmly on providing the very highest levels of customer care, having an in house training facility will enable STL to offer a wider range of telephone demonstration services, programming and handset training.
The Art & Design students worked in teams to create mood boards and colour schemes and one team even made a scale model to show their vision for the room. At the end of the project the teams presented their ideas and plans to Bill Smith, our FD.
Bill said “I was really impressed with the way they tackled this project and the ideas they came up with to make our conference and meeting rooms more inspiring. They really thought about how the rooms would work in practice as well as making them look really modern and bright.”
Now the work begins to transform the two rooms!
