100 coats for the homeless
STL staff have raided their wardrobes to dig out old unwanted coats to help keep local homeless people warmer this winter. They were supporting an initiative to gather 100 coats for the homeless in the Oxfordshire region that was set up by business students from Abingdon & Witney College. The students managed to achieve double their target with over 200 coats being donated in total, along with a number of blankets and sleeping bags.
STL staff contributed 20 coats, most of which were lovely thick men’s coats to keep recipients warm in the chilly winter weather. With men making up 80 per cent of homeless people, men’s coats are more in demand than ladies coats.
Stationery and office supply providers, Aston & James, collected and stored all the coats donated by Witney businesses which were then distributed to the homeless by local charity OxHop.
