Students design trophy for STL WOBA Award
Once again, students from Abingdon & Witney College have competed to design the trophy that will be presented to the winner of the 2018 West Oxfordshire Business of the Year. The Award is the ultimate prize in the annual West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBAs) and is sponsored by us.
The first year design students had a week in which to come up with ideas for a trophy. Each team had to present their ideas and the trophy concepts to the WOBA judges and STL’s FD, Bill Smith.
Bill Smith, STL’s Finance Director, said: “The decision on which design to run with for 2018 was a difficult one as the creativity was quite outstanding. It was good to hear the presentations by the students and the thought process behind their ideas and designs.”
The trophy wll be made out of wood by Witney based charity, Synolos, who have invited the students to spend work experience time in their studio throughout the production process. STL has also offered students from the college some work experience.
There are 11 WOBA categories, the winner of each will be considered for the overall STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year Award. The winner will be revealed at a glamorous Gala Dinner taking place on 23 March 2018 when they will be presented with this unique trophy by STL’s Bill Smith.
