Company meeting to share ideas
STL staff joined together to enjoy breakfast at Eynsham Hall before their half yearly company meeting on Thursday 26th October. The company meeting is held to keep staff up to date with the growth of the company and to give everyone an opportunity to ask questions of the management team and make suggestions.
The meeting kicked off with FD Bill Smith giving a financial update, followed by Paul Cross explaining the new GDPR regulations and outlining the plan that STL already has in place to be compliant by the May 2018 deadline. Finally, Brendon Cross, MD, gave an insight into the progress of initiatives introduced at the last meeting and his vision for the next 6 months.
The top 3 initiatives include:
Customer care and support
Customer care is a key differentiator for STL and every employee actively works towards providing the very best service to every customer. A number of new measures have recently been put in place to further improve customer care and the measurement thereof. This includes a smiley face traffic light system on all STL emails as well as a dedicated customer care team that will further increase in headcount in 2018.
STL as an employer of choice
MD Brendon Cross always says that his number one asset is his people, which is borne out by the low turnover of staff and the fact that many have been with STL for most of its 22 years in existence. He never takes staff for granted and, as a result of suggestions at the last meeting, has made some additions to their employment packages to give them a number of enhanced employee benefits. Further suggestions are currently still being followed up, including the formation of a social team to organise 4 staff social events each year.
Spreading the STL word
Much of the discussion centred around engaging with existing customers and prospects as well as other businesses who know STL that will refer their business contacts for hosted, fixed and mobile telephony and broadband. As a key player in the Oxford business community, STL continues to build a wide network of leading businesses as customers and connections.
Brendon said, “It is always good to get everyone out of the office to take time to look at what we are doing, where we want to go and how we are going to get there. STL has got to where it is thanks to its amazing staff and team work, so to involve everyone in our plans ensures complete buy in as well as openness. Many of the suggestions from the last company meeting have now been implemented as policy or benefits and everyone knows that we listen to their ideas and suggestions, whatever they may be!”
