The team responsible for making the STL WOBA trophy 2017

The WOBA trophy for the STL West Oxfordshire Business of the Year Award was unveiled last night at the Celebration of Business event where 33 finalists across 11 categories were revealed for this year’s hotly contested awards.. The event was held at Burford Garden Company and was attended by 200 local businesses.

The WOBA winners will be announced at a glamorous Gala Dinner taking place on 7 April 2017. The winner of each WOBA category is automatically considered by judges for an opportunity to be crowned the STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year 2017.

Each year the WOBA trophy is designed by students from Abingdon and Witney College and is made from wood by Synolos. The 2017 trophy was brought on to the stage by two of the student designers to a round of applause. Bill Smith, STL’s FD said, “Each year the bespoke WOBA Business of the Year trophy gets better and better and this one is absolutely stunning. The use of the WOBA ribbon and the smooth lines of the wood makes it a trophy that the ultimate winner will be really proud of.”

Jo Sensecall of the WOBA organising team said: “Everyone who entered this year’s WOBAs should feel proud to be a part of our thriving West Oxfordshire business community. The WOBA team is delighted to see so many new, as well as familiar, businesses revealed as finalists for WOBA 2017 and look forward to finding out the WOBA winners next month.” She added, “We are grateful to STL for sponsoring the overall West Oxfordshire Business of the Year Award. The WOBA trophy was revealed by the students from Abingdon and Witney College who won the competition to design it and it is beautiful. The winner will be delighted to have it on display.”
